Over forty, so what?
We often read in magazines that people in their forties are the new thirtysomethings, which is reassuring.
It is definitely flattering to know that times have changed, and that we are no longer considered “old” once we reach the age of forty. However, time is not interested in trends, and takes its toll all the same. Even if you are active, sporty and feel young at heart, certain changes will nonetheless take place in your body – it is inevitable.
Let’s talk about your eyesight: you have always prided yourself on being able to see perfectly, but lately you have been squinting and adjusting your reading distance. You look around to make sure there are no witnesses, but you have to face the fact that you are having trouble with your eyesight and need glasses! Presbyopia, or long-sightedness, is part of the midlife package.
The good news is that, nowadays, it is much more enjoyable to find yourself in your forties and to be presbyopic (or long-sighted). This is partly thanks to our unique, specially adapted optical solutions. Glasses have become a fashion accessory that can add the extra finishing touch to your look
Progressive lenses: the ideal solution
Progressive (or multifocal) lenses are designed to correct several types of visual problems. They have a variable visual field, distributed progressively over the entire height of the lens.
You may be short-sighted and already wear glasses, but with age you will still start to feel the first effects of presbyopia. In this case, progressive lenses are the solution: they are specially designed to ensure clear and comfortable vision at any time of day, both close up and at a distance.
These versatile lenses allow you to switch from one activity to another without having to change glasses. There is a wide range of progressive lenses, so that everyone can find the right ones that suit them.
Most people with presbyopia adapt to their new lenses almost immediately, but this can vary from person to person. Your optician will help you to find the best optical solution to ensure perfect comfort. However, if you are not completely satisfied, Visilab undertakes to exchange your lenses or even to refund you.
Reluctant to wear glasses? Contact lenses are the ideal solution for you!
If you are set against the idea of wearing glasses, multifocal lenses are a suitable alternative. You will be able to see properly again without changing your look.
The other solution is to wear monovision contact lenses: one lens corrects distance vision, while the other corrects near vision.
